Itineraries

Day 1

Yerevan

After having arrived at the “Zvartnots” International Airport, you will be met by the company and accompanied to Yerevan, capital of Armenia. A 2-hours city tour of Yerevan, in a comfortable bus, will form your first impressions of the capital. During the Yerevan City tour you will see the Cascade, the Republic Square, the Opera house, Victory Park. Afterwards you will visit Proshyan Wine Factory to taste 3 different types of wines. Dinner in a traditional Armenian restaurant. Return to the hotel. Overnight.

Day 2

Yerevan – Khor Virap – Areni village – Noravank – Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. We will be led through the plains of the Ararat valley to the magnificent monastery of Khor Virap set against the backdrop of towering Mount Ararat. The monastery is a place of pilgrimage and is the site of the prison where St. Gregory the Illuminator (who brought Christianity to Armenia in 301 AD) was imprisoned. Trip to Areni village in order to taste wines made of various fruits. We will continue our way to Noravank. The monastery is best known for its two-stored S. Astvatsatsin church, which grants access to the second floor by way of narrow stones jutting out from the face of building. Return to Yerevan. Dinner at “Granada” restaurant. Overnight.

Day 3

Yerevan – Garni – Geghard – Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to Geghard Monastery, a unique architectural monument, founded in the fourth century, partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will continue our way to Garni, the only pagan temple in Armenia, where you can admire the unique mosaic baths and ruins of the royal palace. Lunch in Garni. Master class in baking lavash – Armenian bread. Return to Yerevan. Visit to Yerevan Brandy Company and “Noy” factory. Dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4

Yerevan – Best Western “Aghveran” Hotel

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Best Resort “Aghveran Hotel” / www.aghveranhotel.am/ where you will have a great time. The hotel is situated on a steep mountain slope. It was built recently which provides full services that make vacations comfortable. Master class by the chef-cook. Degustation. Overnight.

Day 5

Aghveran – Tsaghkadzor – Aghveran

Breakfast at the hotel. It is impossible to have holidays in Armenia without visiting Tsaghkadzor – our marvelous and beautiful winter resort, although it is very nice during other seasons too. Here you can fully enjoy the richness of nature. After short city tour and enjoying the nature from the rope-way you will be accompanied to Kecharis Monastery-an ancient and rather large assembly. It is also an excellent place for skate and ski lovers during winter. Then, you will return to the hotel, have a rest.

Day 6

Aghveran – Lake Sevan – Aghveran

In the morning, immediately after the breakfast, 4-hours’ visit to the Lake Sevan regarded as “the Blue Pearl” of Armenia, will be organized. Sevan is one of the largest alpine lakes in the world situated at the altitude of 1896 meters above sea level. On clear and sunny days it looks like a piece of sky that have descended to the earth among the mountains. A visit to the Sevanavank monastery located on the Northwestern shore of Lake Sevan. According to an inscription in one of the churches, it was founded in 874 AD by the Princess Mariam. Return back to the Best Western “Aghveran” hotel. Overnight.

Day 7

Aghveran – Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. This day will be dedicated to entertainments. You will visit either a theatre or a cinema. Then, you will be taken to one of our clubs to have a beautiful evening with delicious foods, tasty drinks, dances and songs. Overnight.

Day 8

Yerevan – Tbilisi

Breakfast at the hotel. Meet at Georgian – Armenian border, check point Sadakhlo and drive to Tbilisi. Transfer to the hotel. Rest. Dinner at a traditional restaurant with the accompaniment of an entertainment program and wine tasting. Free time. Overnight.

Day 9

Tbilisi

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will feel atmosphere of ancient Tiflis and understand why architects of the Middle Ages said that “the keys of the Caucasus are located in Tbilisi”.

Familiarization with a new and old architecture of incredible capital.

Cathedral Sameba (Holy Trinity Cathedral) – the largest Orthodox church in the world. Spectacular, beautiful, amazing. The greatness of the architect’s idea is immediately felt.

Another symbol of the city is Cathedral Metehi (XIII c.) – the ancient citadel and the residence of the Georgian kings. According to legend, here Queen Tamara was praying.

We will also visit the most complicated creation of Italian architect, the face of modern Tbilisi – Bridge of Peace. Going up by cable route to Narikala fortress (“Unassailable fortress”) – the soul of Tbilisi (extra fee in place USD 2,5 per pers.). Enjoying breathtaking panorama of the city. This citadel is almost as old as the city itself, it refers to the IV c. A.D. Visit to “Abanotubani” – the area of sulfur baths, one of the main attractions of Tbilisi. All bath rooms are below ground level and covered with semicircular arches. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 10

Sighnaghi

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Sighnaghi – city of love in the style of southern Italian classicism, famous for its fortress. This town is included in the list of the most famous and largest fortresses of Georgia (XVIII c.). You will enjoy beautiful view on Alazani Valley. Visit to convent Bodbe – Monastery and Episcopal Complex of St. George, one of the holiest places in Georgia. We will enjoy tasty food and drinks of the famous local wine cellar in the beautiful city Gurdjaani, where you will have opportunity to taste wine directly from kvevri (large pitcher). Late lunch (early dinner) in “Gurdjaani wine house”, where you will have opportunity to participate in the process of cooking Georgian dishes – Georgian bread, shashlyk, khachapuri, Georgia Snikers – churchkhela. You will also familiarize with the history of production of grape vodka and have tasting of traditional Kakheti wine and grape vodka – chacha.

In the evening arrival back to Tbilisi. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 11

Mtskheta - Cathedral Svetitskhoveli – Tbilisi.

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for excursion to Mtskheta – ancient capital of Georgia. There is nowhere in the whole Georgia such a number of saint and cultural places as in Mtskheta. Due to this fact, ancient city is also called “second Jerusalem”. It is ancient capital of Georgia, UNESCO heritage, indescribably majestic and ancient city. Here you will have the opportunity to visit Cathedral Svetitskhoveli (XI c.) – one of the spiritual symbols of modern Georgia.

Here in Mtskheta tourists will have wine tasting. Mtskheta is also famous for numerous restaurants for any taste. You may have lunch here. Return back to Tbilisi.

Day 12

Transfer to the Armenian-Georgian border

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the Armenian-Georgian border. Meet with a guide. Trip to Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries which are listed in UNESCO world heritage sites. Lunch in Alaverdi. Return back to Yerevan. Transfer to the hotel. Free time. Dinner. Overnight.
